1. Who We Are

Metis is a hiring marketplace that helps candidates find roles based on genuine fit. The Metis service is operated by Christian Lapio ("Metis", "we", "us", or "our"). You can contact us at metisapp7@gmail.com.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use Metis:

Account information

• Email address and password (used to create and authenticate your account)

Profile information

• Your name, current job title, and seniority level
• Work experience, skills, education, certifications, languages, and projects
• Career preferences including preferred work location, company size, and availability
• Salary expectations
• CV text (extracted from a PDF or document you upload)

Job browsing data

• Text content of job postings you visit while the Chrome extension is active
• Job title, company name, and URL of those postings
• Match scores and analysis results generated for those postings

Usage data

• Number of job analyses performed per week
• Your subscription plan (free or pro)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Generate a match score between your profile and job postings you visit
• Provide personalised fit reasons and gap analysis for each role
• Improve the accuracy of our matching algorithm over time
• Enforce usage limits and manage your subscription
• Communicate with you about your account

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only with the following service providers, strictly to operate the Metis service:

• Supabase — database and authentication (data stored in the EU)
• OpenAI — job match scoring (your profile and job text are sent to GPT-4o-mini to generate a score; OpenAI does not use this data to train their models under our API agreement)
• Anthropic — AI onboarding assistant (when the Scout feature is active)

We do not share your data with employers, recruiters, or any third party without your explicit consent. In Stage 3 of the Metis roadmap, anonymised profile summaries may be shown to employers — we will update this policy and seek your consent before that feature is activated.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. Job analyses are retained indefinitely to support algorithm improvement. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at metisapp7@gmail.com. We will action deletion requests within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), if you are based in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the following rights:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Erasure — request deletion of your personal data
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection — object to processing of your data
• Restriction — request that we limit how we use your data

7. Chrome Extension Permissions

The Metis Chrome extension requests the following browser permissions:

• Active tab / host permissions — to read the text of job posting pages you visit so we can generate a match score
• Storage — to store your session token locally so you stay logged in
• Identity / runtime — to communicate between the extension popup and background

The extension only reads page content on job posting sites. It does not read your browsing history, passwords, form data, or any content on non-job pages.

8. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication is handled by Supabase, which uses industry-standard security practices. API keys are stored server-side only and are never exposed to the browser or extension. We do not store passwords in plain text.

9. Children's Privacy

Metis is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you by email or via the Metis application.
